Principal's Message

Welcome to the Pride at Grace Patterson Elementary School, home of the Lions!

Nestled in a picturesque park-like setting, close to California State University, Vallejo (California Maritime Academy) and the beautiful Carquinez Straits, Patterson School is home to a diverse student body of approximately 425 students from Transitional Kindergarten through sixth grade.

Comprised of approximately 43% Hispanic, 39% African-American, 11% Filipino, and 7% White and Pacific Islander, our student body brings a culturally and linguistically rich heritage to our learning environment.

Our school was named for Mrs. Grace Logan Patterson, the first African American teacher in Vallejo City Unified School District. Mrs. Patterson was an exemplary teacher and community service worker.

At the school's dedication ceremonies in 1981, she shared these words, "There are so many opportunities for one to make his or her life count for something. All we need to do is prepare ourselves, and then be willing to do what we can."

We, at Grace Patterson, try to live up to those words in all we do.
